About
The Active Organic simply put, is a blog about one active man’s journey toward a more organic, healthy and sustainable lifestyle. Behind it is the idea that our bodies are like sponges, we are what we put on, in and around it.
And you may ask yourself, well…How did we get here?
This site is the result of various experiences and values gained throughout my young life.
At the foundation there is a strong belief that this planet and environment are the confluence for all life, the goose that lays the golden eggs if you will. We need to protect, maintain and nourish it, we need to respect what it provides us. As a society we have tried to drill and blast our way to that golden egg, rather than nurturing the provider. As a result we have ignored where we came from and have engineered and manufactured our way to convenience and mass consumption. In doing so we have broken links between our lives and this planet.
For many many years, we have subjected ourselves to innumerable “foreign” or “manufactured” substances, as a result our bodies and immune systems have been beaten down. I believe this is why we see increasing cases of cancer, disease and chronic illness.
Defining The Active Organic:
At the root of a healthy and happy life are two principles:
- First: eating a healthy, balanced and organic diet.
- Second: being active and exercising several times a week.
With regard to the first principle, I have taken it a step further and threw organic in there. I have lived a healthy and happy life up till this point, by eating right and staying active. But it’s apparent to me that if I want to continue on this path I must start to wean myself off all the processed and preserved products I use daily.
What to expect:
I do not hold myself up to be an expert or a professional source by any means. Please before following any advice or ideas on this site do further research and find what works best for you and your family’s situation and then please share. A good starting point may be our Resources page.
To truly live “organic” there is a wide spectrum of things that can be done. My goal is to put the wheels in motion and see what experiences I can encounter. We all have aspects of our lives that we can’t or aren’t willing to alter, but I am all for changing as much as possible and focusing on that. If we all altered a few small things, it would make big things happen.
In the end I’m not asking myself how we got here, but how we get to where we need to be. More importantly how I get myself and my planet to where I want it to be. Because truly, I only have control over one man’s mind and actions.
Thus I have started living The Active Organic life. Chronicling the people, products and services I encounter along the way. Providing a platform for interested parties to discuss, debate or share their own experiences and hopefully inspire others to live their own definition of an active organic life.
