Roots, Rock, Reggae Fest + Sage’s Cafe

I wanted to write a bit about this past weekend. I went to the Roots, Rock, Reggae Fest in Park City, Utah. The music, the friends, the atmosphere and the backdrop was just incredible, a damn good time. There were lots of local bands, one in particular was a friend of ours, The Codi Jordan Band. They killed it! Check em out on iTunes.

Anywho, all that aside I wanted to mention my organic experience while there. I came across Sage’s Cafe, which is based in Salt Lake City. After chatting a bit and looking over their offerings I was quite excited to find their organic/raw fare. I ordered their combo with Jerk Chicken, mixed greens and a tasty bean and rice concoction. Loved everything about it, the mixed greens had some nice deep greens in it that people usually don’t get, that was good to see.

Not until further research did I realize it was a vegetarian cafe and that the Jerk Chicken may have been “Chik-N”. I am not a vegetarian but I don’t mind eating a bit of the meat substitute every now and again. Especially if it tastes sooo good! If it was “Chick-N” this was the second time that I ordered chicken at a vegetarian joint and thought was real chicken until I was told otherwise…haha, guess I should put two and two together when I visit these places.

I also was very excited to see that they had some coconut water towards the end of the show, which came in real handy after all the spirits that had been drank. Everybody loved it and went after the coconut once the water was gone!

The last adventure was heading up to Main Street to check out the Park Silly Market. Great farmers/craft market with local musicians and a decent showing of local farmers.

In conclusion
I just wanted to talk about how exciting this was to see and send some love to those who make it happen. I love the fact that it is getting more and more prevalent. More people are becoming aware and choosing healthier and more sustainable options for their lives! We have a ways to go and also need to stay conscious of our efforts and focus them on sustainable and local ventures whenever possible. In the end it is fun and exciting to partake in.
