Paving the Way - Ogden Nature Center

So I just wanted to throw this up real quick. Last Wednesday I went to the Sunshine Breakfast Benefit, a fundraising breakfast at the Ogden Nature Center.
This was actually my first time at the preserve and was so pleased about my experience and what they are doing there. This 152 acre preserve near downtown Ogden, Utah is quite a beautiful place. All kinds of educational workshops, birding, photography and summer camps for the kids.
The kids are one thing that really hit home for me. This was a fundraising event so what they did was have a handful of the kids come up and speak about their experiences. All of them were very well spoken and some even decided to ad-lib their speeches, no notes! These were 10 or 12 year old kids, quite impressive. When they shared what they had learned I was taken aback, they were talking about sustainability in our communities, green living, conservation all of which are pretty deep subjects. They genuinely had a grasp of the future and their impact on our environment and their interest to change it. Very cool that we have a place like that for the future leaders to learn and blaze a path!
The last thing I wanted to mention was the breakfast itself, nothing to behold but quite delectable and healthy to boot. Organic yogurt and granola a nice quiche or something of the sort and plenty of fruit to balance it all out. A beautiful place and a great way to start the day, out in nature, eating healthy, just after sunrise!!
I’m curious does anyone have something similar near them? Have you visited? Do they receive lots of support from the community? What successes have they had? If you have any stories please share them, also if you have visited the Ogden Nature Center, I’d be curious to hear what your thoughts are.
