Alright so I have been MIA for a few days. Coming your way are a few posts. First of which is a quick Wasatch Back Ragnar Relay Recap (try that three times fast).

The race was an amazing experience and such a beautiful course. Our team, “Of Course We Can Run…We’re From Ogden” were some good peeps, we created lots of quality memories.

For those who don’t know, Ragnar Relay is a series of relay races around the country. We did the original, the Wasatch Back. It is 190 miles from Logan to Park City. 12 runners split into two vehicles. One van runs 6 legs and the next van jumps in and runs 6 legs, we leap frog like that until we finish the 190 miles. All over 24 hours. Not much sleep, lots of camaraderie and plenty of fun!!

My goal with my diet and fueling was to keep it as organic as possible. I stuck to water the whole trek, 90% of the time it was smartwater. My fueling for the race consisted of PROBAR’s, Sharkies Energy Chews and two bagels and cream cheese. Other than that I had one square meal during the race, it was a nice taco salad from our good friend Curt at Brookside Grill at the East Canyon Resort. Happily I can say about 70% of my fueling during the race was organic. I would like to work on that, but for my first experiment I am quite stocked. I absolutely love smartwater and had no problem with hydration and the PROBAR’s were an excellent and tasty choice giving me energy throughout.

All in all I can’t wait to do it again and try several other relays. I had a great experience with my organic choices and will increase them each time I race. Surprisingly I felt fresh the day after, my muscles weren’t sore, one quad was a bit tight from my last leg where I pushed it. I 100% contribute this to the water and my diet choices. There is no other way I could of recovered like that.

In conclusion
If you are a runner or adventurous you sooo gotta try a Ragnar Relay. Such a great experience and a huge accomplishment. If you haven’t tried any of the aforementioned active products; smartwater, PROBAR or Sharkies I would highly suggest it. I love each one, in a healthy way of course. ;) Great taste, healthy and organic fuel for any active body!

Oh btw, if you are interested in what mileage I ended up doing in the race click on the “dailymile” button to the right and you can find it there.

Lastly, if you have had any experiences with these products or even the race, please comment below and share your stories. I would love to hear what everyone else has encountered or what they use for their fueling.
